Lifestyle Clinic

Welcome to the Lifestyle Clinic. The Federation is holding a pilot Lifestyle Medicine Clinic to support weight loss for patients living with Obesity. Please note we are unable to prescribe weight loss medications at this clinic at this stage.

The sessions will be composed of up to 15 patients on a group sessional basis. The sessions are all confidential.

Session 1: Meet and greet! MythBusters! Meeting to know who you are and who we are! In this session we explore why each of us wanted to be here, what you hope to achieve and why. We look to find out what your goals and aspirations are plus what challenges you face. We would like to know about the common myths around weight loss and why they worked or didn’t work. With this information we can tailor the sessions to ensure you get the most out of them.

Session 2: Making and breaking habits! Behaviour changes explored! In this session we seek to understand what is at the heart of any behaviour change. Behaviours play a pivotal role in our lifestyle but also our daily routine affects our behaviours. Hurdles to changes will always be present but knowing how to avoid them or overcome them is important to making positive changes. With our Health and wellbeing coaches we will discuss the principles and learn how for example being part of a community can help to sustain a change.

Session 3: Food and Nutrition - NOT Diet! In this session we explore the common weight loss ‘diet’ myths. We will learn what food is enjoyable and nourishing and how this affects our health. We will look at sustainable food swaps to ensure that this lifestyle change NOT diet can be positive for you and for those around you.

Session 4: Physical Activity- Moving made easy! The Active Together team will join us to teach us simple steps to move more. Physical activity is not only beneficial to maintain weight loss, but also improves pain, mental health and longevity. The Active Together team will help you to get you plugged in to an activity which you can do and will enjoy. There is something all of us can do. Come open minded and in comfortable clothing! If we can do our activities outside, then even better!

Session 5: Sleep, Mood and Weight- did you know the links? Did you know that your sleep is incredibly important for your general health, including your mental health? Sleep is a big part of weight loss and we explore why. We will discover ways to aid better sleep and what to avoid ensuring the quality of sleep.

Session 6: Planning for the future. This session is aimed to measure progress. Learn about our positive experiences and our setbacks. We will have a group session with the Lifestyle doctor to plan your health journey and what you would like to see going forward.
